This course is aimed at keeping our businesses competitive, meeting the demands from clients who now want greener buildings while taking advantage of an existing opportunity.
The EcoBIM Course Content:
The EcoBIM course will have focus on but not limited to the following tasks:
- Rapidly evaluate the project site
- Create a benchmark model for analysis
- Perform analyses on the benchmark model in respect to:
daylight, energy & cost, water & cost, life cycle cost, carbon emissions, shadow impact, material use and general cost analyses
- Develop a sustainable design concept
- Perform concept studies with regards to:
Finding the optimal building shape, building orientation and position on site
- Perform daylight analysis
- Reviewing concepts and data towards meeting the project’s goals
- Optimize the selected design with:
Orientation, massing, the envelope, glazing, lighting, equipment, passive solar, thermal mass, mechanical systems, materials, water use
- Documentation of: life cycle costs, carbon emissions and energy use
- Explore rainwater harvesting, passive cooling and/or a PV strategy
The course includes: a summarized version of the entire course available for download and a REVIT file that course takers will be able to download to complete a given task.
